IF AFTER YOU'VE FOLLOWED THESE STEPS YOU STILL HAVE PROBLEMS, EMAIL MARC M. (bulldogs73@comcast.net)

To download the free software click on the link and then on the appropriate "CLIENT" software for your computer.

http://www.ventrilo.com./download.php

For those who may be computer novices, I am also including the directions for using the software and getting on the meeting. Additionally, I will also have my AIM instant messenger up prior to the meeting so that I can help you if you have a problem on Sunday evening. My IM screen name is: theexmayor

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING VENTRILO:
This guide will teach even the biggest computer novice how to operate their Ventrilo client to connect to a server.

Step 1: Downloading The Software
The first thing you will need to do is download Ventrilo. Make sure to download the corresponding file for your Operating System (OS). For instance, if you are a Windows OS user you will want to download the "Windows i386 - 32bit" file. (The Ventrilo client is licensed free for users.) Next, when the software is downloaded, you will need to run the executable and follow the instructions on the screen. Once Ventrilo has been successfully installed, you may want to include a shortcut to your desktop or to your quick launch bar.

Step 2: Setting Up Your User Name
Now it is time to launch Ventrilo. Open up Ventrilo and you will be presented with a window. The first thing to do is set up your User Name. You should notice an arrow button (->) to the right of "User Name" -- click on it.

Set Up A Ventrilo User

In this window you will be able to create multiple User Names for Ventrilo. Let's begin by setting up a User. Begin by clicking on the "New" button. A small window will open requesting you to enter your User Name. Enter it and click "OK" to continue or "Cancel" to try again. Type your User Name in exactly as you wish it to appear on the Ventrilo server.

After successfully entering in your User Name, you may want to tweak Ventrilo's text-to-speech functionality or you may want to continue connecting to a server. Proceed to "Step 3" if you wish to connect to a Ventrilo server; or, keep reading here if you want to learn how to modify Ventrilo's text-to-speech functionality.

To enable or disable text-to-speech binds generated by other users open "Setup" and select the "Speech" tab. Select or deselect "Play Text-to-speech messages sent by other users". If you would like to keep TTS enabled, you may want to change the voice or adjust the volumes. Select the voice you want under the "Voice" menu and to adjust the volume use the "Volume" control.

Step 3: Connecting To A Server
Now that you've added your User Name to your Ventrilo client, you can connect to a Ventrilo server. This time you will need to click the arrow button (->) to the right of "Server". The "Connection Editor" window will pop up and you will then need to enter your details, but first click on "New". You will be prompted to enter a "Name" for your Ventrilo server. Enter NationVoice.com and then select "OK". Now you will be presented with fields to enter your Hostname or IP, so enter 208.122.2.166 here. Then you will need to put the port to your Ventrilo server in the field labeled "Port Number". The default port is 4355. The server requires a password, you will also need to enter the word detach here before proceeding. Make sure to hit "OK" to save your details.

Ventrilo Connection Editor

The final step if you have successfully completed the guide to this point will be to click the "Connect" button. If everything went well, then you should be presented with the name of the server in the main window, and possibly other channels too if they have been added.

Here you will find basic explanations to the interface of Ventrilo.

User Name:
Before you can join a Ventrilo Server you must create a User Name. Your User Name will be associated with you when you are connected to a Ventrilo Server.

Server:
You must create a Server for you to be able to join before you can proceed. This lists your currently selected readable server address.

Bindings:
By default this is set to (None) meaning that no bindings are selected. To create a binding you click the arrow (->).

Connect/Disconnect:
If Connect is visible then you will need to click it to connect to the server you have selected. If Disconnect is visible and you wish to disconnect from the current server you are connected to -- click it.

Comment:
You can create a comment that will be displayed to the right of your User Name between ( and ). Your comment will be displayed to all currently connected Users.

Chat:
Clicking on the Chat button will bring up a chat interface similar to Internet Relay Chat with the ability for Text-to-Speech. If a User is active in chat it will display a "C" to the left of their User Name.

Setup:
Clicking this button will bring up an advanced setup menu where you will be able to edit your options and configure Ventrilo more to your liking. Read more about this here.

About:
The About button displays copyright information as well as information on the author of Ventrilo.

Close:
The Close button will disconnect you from your active server -- assuming one is active -- and force Ventrilo to quit.

Help:
The Help button activates Ventrilo's built-in help system.

Mute Sound:
The Mute Sound button will mute you from all incoming sounds and voice communication as well as incoming Text-to-Speech.

Mute Microphone/Binds:
With this selected you will be able to hear all incoming sounds, but will not be able to transmit any outgoing sounds. This is useful when you don't want your microphone to pick up any noise in the background.

Synchronous:
This will force all TTS and wave files to play on after the other instead of all at one time.

Key Forwarding:
If you have set a bind to a specific key and have key forwarding enabled then your wave or bind will play in any program you have selected.

This guide will teach more advanced Users how to tweak Ventrilo to their heart's content. All of Ventrilo's nics and crannys are looked into.

VOICE
Enable voice communications:
This option enables or disables you from transmitting voice communication to other Users.
